Test USB sticks and SD cards for fake capacity, find duplicate files, compare and copy folders, and wipe free space to make recovery harder. Windows GUI and command line.
FileDO is a Windows storage tool with a window and a command line, for drives, memory cards, folders and network shares. It detects fake USB/SD capacity by writing real data and reading it back, and benchmarks read and write speed. It finds duplicate files by content with a hash cache, compares two folders, and copies large trees with progress, timeouts and care for damaged disks. It wipes free space (fill, then delete) and single files (overwrite, then remove) to make recovery harder, with no guarantee on SSDs, and asks you to type WIPE before it empties a folder. It also packs a single file into a password-protected .fd-sec container and takes it back out, or opens what is inside in the program it belongs to without unpacking it - from a read-only copy that only your account can read and that is removed when you are done with it. An empty password is accepted and means obfuscation only, not secrecy, and FileDO says so where you type it. Virtual disks: a .fdd container holds a whole volume in one file, mounted as a drive letter through the Windows iSCSI initiator (mounting asks for administrator consent) or read through for damage and exported without mounting. Without a password a container is obfuscated, not encrypted; with one it is encrypted. Run "filedo_win" for the window or "filedo" in a terminal. The package registers nothing in Explorer on its own: run "filedo fdsec register" if you want the menu entries and the .fd-sec type, and "filedo vd register" for the .fdd type.
