Runner is a native desktop application where terminal agents work together. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor CLI, Grok Build, Antigravity CLI, Copilot CLI and pi can take the same task in one mission, and each agent keeps its own TUI in a real terminal while the lead brings the decisions back to you. Everything in Runner is also a runner command: missions, crews, roles, projects, chats, sessions and messages are all addressable from the command line, with runnerd as the background service. Agents run natively on Windows without WSL, and PowerShell 7 is optional. Status: alpha, actively shipping. Native builds target macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows (x64) on Windows 10 version 1809 or later; Intel Macs, Windows ARM64 and Linux are not supported. The installer, the application and the CLI sidecars are Authenticode-signed with a Certum open-source certificate issued to Open Source Developer Yicheng Wang.
What's new in 0.18.1.20261026.1120
Runner 0.18.1 is a bug-fix release for macOS and Windows on top of 0.18.0, focused on remote sessions and reliable terminal status and appearance. New - Role and crew management for companion clients. Paired companion clients can now read, create, edit and delete host roles, crews and crew members. Role environment variables stay on the host. (#1031) Bug fixes - Return to the remote tab you left. Switching between computers now remembers each computer's selected tab or mission within the current window, including the focused pane in a split tab. If the selected item was closed, Runner opens an available one. (#1037) - Consistent remote terminal colors. Remote chat and mission panes use the host's terminal palette, preventing mismatched backgrounds and agent colors when the two computers use different themes. (#1029) - Remote terminals follow your input preferences. Cursor-style changes now apply to remote panes immediately, and double-click word selection behaves like local terminals. (#1035) - Acknowledged errors stay acknowledged. Remote sidebars no longer bring back cleared crash alerts. Selecting a stopped chat or mission member clears its error and unread indicators on both computers without restarting it. Update both computers for this behavior. (#1034) - Correct colors after restarting Runner. Runner remembers the terminal palette before resuming sessions, so agents such as Codex start with the correct light or dark background colors. (#1030) - Working status recovers after a daemon restart. Resumed Codex sessions recover status reporting when their first hook arrives late, instead of remaining Idle while working. (#1013) Known issue - Turning off remote access on a host can leave its viewer showing a misleading “Reconnecting…” warning. Clearer offline and remote-access-disabled messaging is tracked separately. (#1041)
