About AccessiWeather

AccessiWeather brings forecasts, alerts, and detailed weather data into one open-source desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It keeps current conditions, daily forecast, hourly forecast, and alerts in clearly separated sections so you can jump straight to what you need with speech, braille, or the keyboard.

What's new in 0.10.1

Changed

  • The show, hide and read-tray hotkeys now default to Ctrl+Alt+Shift+W, M and I, so they no longer steal Ctrl+Shift shortcuts from your browser or screen reader.
  • Edit Location is now F2, and NOAA Weather Radio opens with Ctrl+N.
  • AccessiWeather tells you when another program already owns a window or tray hotkey, instead of failing silently. Windows only.
  • A shortcut Settings won't accept now gets focus along with the message, so you can fix it right away.

0.10.0 Sep 14, 2026

Added

  • Browse and pick Venice text models in AI settings, with token prices, cost and function-calling filters, and your credit balance when your key allows.
  • A Get Venice API key button in AI settings opens Venice's signup and API settings page.
  • Choose Venice AI for weather explanations and the Weather Assistant with your own key and prepaid credits; OpenRouter stays the default.
  • Choose wind speed units (mph, km/h or m/s) separately from temperature units in Settings; Explain Weather follows the choice.
  • Reorder saved locations from the Location menu; the order survives restarts.
  • Set shortcuts in Advanced Settings to restore the window, hide it to the tray, and read tray information, which work while hidden on Windows.
  • Ctrl+Shift+L now opens Edit Location.
  • Start and stop NOAA Weather Radio from anywhere with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R, even with AccessiWeather in the tray (Windows only).
  • Rebind the radio hotkey on the General tab in Settings, or clear the field to turn it off.
  • AccessiWeather now keeps a log file in a logs folder next to your settings, so there's something to send when reporting a problem.
  • A portable copy keeps its logs inside the portable folder.
  • Automatic updates now work on Linux from the AppImage, the same way they do on Windows.
  • Running from the tarball, AccessiWeather downloads and verifies the update and tells you where the file is and how to finish installing it. …

Changed

  • New default sounds: The alert and notification audio has been completely replaced with a warm, gentle set of wooden-mallet tones. The old pack was full of piercing high-frequency tones - some dumping most of their energy into the harsh 3-6 kHz range - and one alert ran a jarring 12 seconds. The new sounds stay in a soft, low register (around 200-500 Hz), are short, and are grouped by severity so an advisory, a watch, a warning, and an extreme alert each sound distinct without ever being shrill. Prefer the old set? It's still available as "Classic Default", a downloadable optional pack in the sound manager, with the worst ear-piercing tones softened.
  • Forecaster Notes can now show official NWS Surf Zone Forecasts for regional beaches where available, with surf/beach condition alternatives from supported global sources when an official SRF product is not available.
  • AccessiWeather can now automatically tune NOAA Weather Radio for qualifying alerts that use Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) when you turn on the opt-in setting on the Alerts tab, then stop after the duration you choose when a reliable station match is available.
  • NOAA Weather Radio now opens independently of saved weather locations and keeps playing after you close the player until you press Stop or exit the app.
  • The NOAA Weather Radio Station Finder now has clearer modes for searching all stations, browsing by full state or territory name, and finding nearby stations by coordinates. …
