About PowCal

A powerful app to customize & extend Google Calendar.

What's new in 2.1.0

Highlights

  • Reworked settings – regrouped into clearer sections with many new options, and translated into all of PowCal's languages
  • Smarter spam filter – catches invitations luring you to a site, trusts senders marked "Not spam", and can leave spam on the calendar
  • Declined invitations – a new inbox tab lists invitations you declined, so you can still accept them
  • Calls in their apps – Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls open straight in their desktop apps where installed, unless you turn it off

Also in this release

Added

  • A "Display size" setting to scale the whole interface to 90–150% instead of fitting it to the window
  • A "Minimum display duration" setting to draw events as short as 5 or 10 minutes, below Google Calendar's 15
  • A setting to show the calendar's color stripe on events with their own color
  • A setting to show duplicate events in full instead of shrinking or dimming the extra copies
  • Settings to turn off auto-fill from similar events and for travel events
  • A setting to check spelling while typing, with suggestions on right-click
  • A setting to hide the number of unseen invitations on the Dock or taskbar icon
  • <kbd>Cmd</kbd>/<kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>,</kbd> opens Settings, as in other apps
  • A right-click menu to open or copy links, copy email addresses, and cut, copy or paste text
  • Hovering a link shows its full URL in a status bar
  • Join buttons for Webex, Whereby and Jitsi Meet calls, Zoom X and newer Microsoft Teams links
  • Opening a webcal:// link subscribes to its calendar, keeping it up to date, instead of importing it once

Improved

  • Smarter categorization – invitations nothing else matches count as meetings, and ambiguous words misfire less
  • The "Apply rule changes?" preview lists every change an AI agent made, with the affected events as they'll look
  • Working location suggestions name the right city more often
  • The inbox shows invitation times in your time zone, like the calendar
  • Links to Google apps like Docs or Gmail open in your browser with the right account
  • PowCal works better by keyboard and screen reader throughout
  • Various visual refinements

Fixed

  • Answering a recurring invitation from the inbox or a desktop notification keeps dates you answered separately
  • Importing several calendar files at once no longer drops their time zones, which could shift event times
  • Back-to-back events now sit evenly 1px apart, at every zoom level …

Highlights

  • Custom categories – set up your own keywords and icons for categorizing events, configurable via an AI agent
  • Better Time Insights – over all your calendars, not just your primary one, also by calendar or category, and on personal Google accounts too
  • Inbox actions – respond to invitations or report one as spam straight from the inbox
  • Grouped birthdays – same-day birthdays show as one event listing everyone, unless you turn it off
  • Browser integration – our extension routes Google Calendar links and calendar files from your browser or email to PowCal

Also in this release

Added

  • A "Category Icons" setting to show icons on all events, on all but other people's calendars, or never
  • Expand shortcuts to title prefixes via auto-complete when creating or editing an event, configurable via an AI agent
  • Auto-fill calendar, color, availability, visibility and reminders by category or attribute when creating or editing an event, configurable via an AI agent
  • Let color labels apply certain attributes to their events automatically, configurable via an AI agent
  • Show or hide the world clock and the mini calendar from the "Customize Sidebar" menu

1.10.0 Aug 26, 2026

Highlights

  • Private badge – events set to private now show a marker in the corner, with the guest badge outlined to match, and each badge gets a switch in the view menu
  • Event attributes – mark an event Tentative, Alongside or Transit directly in the category menu, without typing anything into the event yourself
  • Working location presets – when you add a working location, PowCal suggests the city you'll be in that day, worked out from your other events and travel

Also in this release

Improved

  • Smarter event categorization – more keywords across a dozen categories, narrowed where they matched too eagerly, and matching that copes with umlaut spellings, accents and unusual lettering
  • Auto-fill – the calendar and color are filled in one step, instead of flickering through other options on the way
  • Google Calendar's wording for a private event is now the same everywhere you see it
  • Location suggestions – accents, punctuation and spacing no longer have to match exactly
  • The time zone suggestion dialog for a location opens faster
  • Event layout – an overlapping event no longer hides one that starts later, events keep their full width next to a narrowed neighbor, and the gaps left by hidden calendars close up
  • Time ranges – one consistent dash and spacing style in every language …
