Aura (EnvBox) is a Windows process-level environment virtualization launcher. Target apps run on the host with full access to the filesystem, GPU, network, and user profile, but see Environment Profile values for locale, region, UI language, timezone, DNS view, environment variables, and whitelisted internationalization registry reads.
EnvBox does not provide a security boundary and is not a sandbox. It does not isolate files, registry writes, network, or privileges, and must not be used as a security control.
Principles
Process-scoped: changes apply only to one runtime instance's process tree.
Host-transparent: never modifies Windows global configuration.
Environment-consistent: one profile keeps locale, region, language, timezone, DNS, and environment aligned.
The package includes a GUI for managing profiles and launching apps, the envbox CLI (envbox run / profile / app), and a Detours-based runtime DLL.
