Easy desktop VPN offering simple privacy tools
Betternet Free VPN for desktop offers a fast, no-registration way to encrypt your internet connection and mask your IP address. Built with simplicity in mind, it targets users who want a lightweight solution for anonymous browsing or accessing restricted content—without digging through settings or dealing with complicated setup.
Betternet Free VPN installs quickly on desktop through a small, easy-to-use setup file. The interface is clean and centered around a single button to connect or disconnect the VPN. No account is required to use the free version, which is helpful for privacy-conscious users. Server selection is automatic, so users don’t need to sort through locations—the app picks the fastest option available based on current network conditions.
Lightweight VPN for simple, private browsing
For everyday use, performance holds up well. The app runs quietly in the background and doesn’t consume much system memory or processing power. It’s well-suited for basic tasks like browsing, securing public Wi-Fi, or masking your IP address. However, connection speeds may slow down during busy periods, especially on the free plan, which only provides access to a limited pool of servers.
The free version includes basic VPN protection with encrypted traffic and anonymous browsing, but it comes with some restrictions. Users may see ads during use, and there's a soft data limit that affects longer sessions.
